{"id":1825,"date":"2025-05-22T14:37:47","date_gmt":"2025-05-22T02:37:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.awanuilabs.co.nz\/central\/taranaki\/?page_id=1825"},"modified":"2025-05-22T14:38:33","modified_gmt":"2025-05-22T02:38:33","slug":"my-test-results","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.awanuilabs.co.nz\/central\/taranaki\/for-patients\/my-test-results\/","title":{"rendered":"My test results"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Can I get a copy of my test results?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>There are&nbsp;three ways you&nbsp;can receive your test results:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Directly from your health practitioner.&nbsp; We send completed test results to most health practitioners every 30 minutes.&nbsp; This is the quickest way to receive your results<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Via Manage My Health which is available via most medical practices in the Greater Wellington region \u2013 ask your&nbsp;doctor for more information on this option<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Via encrypted, password-protected, email from Awanui Labs<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>We recommend you obtain your test results from your health practitioner to ensure you receive an explanation and interpretation of you test, as well as necessary or appropriate clinical follow-up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you wish to receive your test results directly from Awanui Labs&nbsp;you will need to complete a&nbsp;<em>\u201cRequest for Laboratory Results \u2013 Patient Copy\u201d&nbsp;<\/em>form. This form must be completed at the time your specimen is collected, or later by going to an Awanui Labs&nbsp;Collection Centre with appropriate photo ID, such as a drivers licence or passport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Awanui Labs&nbsp;is not able to provide you with an interpretation of medical opinion of these results.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Receiving Test Results via Email<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Test results are sent as encrypted, password protected PDF files.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.awanuilabs.co.nz\/central\/wellington\/emailed-results\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Click here to read the instructions on&nbsp;how to receive and open password protected emailed result files<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Results will only be sent to patients who have read and signed a&nbsp;<em>\u201cRequest for Laboratory Results \u2013 Patient Copy\u201d<\/em>&nbsp;form in person<strong><em>&nbsp;<\/em><\/strong>at a Awanui Labs&nbsp;Collection Centre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Emails will be sent once all results are complete and your requesting doctor has had an opportunity to&nbsp;review the&nbsp;results; this usually takes 2 \u2014 3 business days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Providing results to patients over the phone<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Rule 5 of the Health Information Privacy Code requires health agencies such as Awanui Labs&nbsp;ensure that health information is protected, by reasonable security safeguards, against unauthorised disclosure.&nbsp; In addition, when providing personal or health information, section 45(a) of the Privacy Act requires Awanui Labs&nbsp;ensure that the person requesting information is appropriately identified as the patient in question or an individual acting on their behalf.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With this in mind results are not normally provided to patients over the phone because of difficulties in confirming that the caller is the patient whose results are being requested.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The exception&nbsp;is&nbsp;INR and HCG tests, which will be given&nbsp;using the password provided to you at the time your specimen was collected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You will need to complete a&nbsp;<em>\u201cRequest for Laboratory Results \u2013 Patient Copy\u201d<\/em>&nbsp;form.&nbsp; This form must be completed at the time your specimen is collected, or later by going to an Awanui Labs&nbsp;collection centre with appropriate photo ID such as a drivers license or passport.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Patient Requested Testing (Self Requested Tests)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>We encourage people to take care of their health and actively manage it.
