{"id":899,"date":"2019-02-11T02:27:33","date_gmt":"2019-02-11T02:27:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.awanuilabs.co.nz\/central\/wellington\/for-patients\/patient-self-requested-testing-copy\/"},"modified":"2025-09-15T12:03:53","modified_gmt":"2025-09-15T00:03:53","slug":"patient-self-requested-testing","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.awanuilabs.co.nz\/central\/wellington\/commercial-testing\/patient-self-requested-testing\/","title":{"rendered":"Patient self-requested testing"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">REQUEST A TEST ON MYSELF<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/bodyiq.co.nz\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Click here to Order a Self Requested Test\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Am I able to request tests on myself?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Yes, for a defined range of tests you are able to self-request if you are aged 16 years or over.&nbsp; For any medical advice regarding these tests, please consult your healthcare provider.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How will I get my results?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>We will email your results to you if an email address is provided on the Self Requested Test request form.&nbsp; Results sent by email are password protected &#8211; we will provide a copy of the completed request form with a request barcode number.&nbsp; Use the barcode number to open the file emailed to you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We can mail your results to your nominated address if no email address is provided (allow 7 working days after the completion of testing) or you can collect your results from the main our main Wellington Laboratory at Wellington Hospital. &nbsp; Photo ID is required.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Will my healthcare provider receive a copy of the results?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>No, but we may seek your authorisation to do so if your results are abnormal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How do I pay?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Payment can be made online, or in person at the the of collection by either EFTPOS or Credit Card (Visa and Mastercard). We do not accept cash payments. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How do I make a request?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>You can Self Request tests<a href=\"http:\/\/bodyiq.co.nz\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u00a0electronically<\/a>\u00a0or via request\u00a0at\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.awanuilabs.co.nz\/central\/wellington\/collection-centres\/\">Awanui Labs\u00a0collection centres which have\u00a0payment facilities.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You need to complete your details on the form, sign and date the declaration.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Payment must be made and then the specimens are collected and sent to the laboratory for testing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How will I know what the results mean?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>You will need to consult with your healthcare provider if you require interpretive advice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Important<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Medical test results should not be interpreted&nbsp;in isolation but in conjunction with any clinical signs and symptoms a person may also have &#8211; your registered healthcare provider has specific training and experience in this. &nbsp;Awanui Labs&nbsp;does not provide any interpretation services for results on self requested tests.&nbsp; We strongly advise you to consult your healthcare provider about interpretation of the results.
