{"id":1072,"date":"2019-07-08T03:57:39","date_gmt":"2019-07-08T03:57:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.awanuilabs.co.nz\/north\/auckland\/?page_id=1072"},"modified":"2026-03-17T16:51:05","modified_gmt":"2026-03-17T03:51:05","slug":"faeces-collections-culture-and-microscopy","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.awanuilabs.co.nz\/north\/auckland\/for-patients\/preparing-for-my-test\/faeces-collections-culture-and-microscopy\/","title":{"rendered":"Faeces Collections &#8211; Culture and Microscopy"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>&nbsp;<strong>Important &#8211; Specimen labelling and\ndelivery: <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Ensure full first and last names and date of birth (dd\/mm\/yy) are clearly written on the specimen container <\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Ensure date and time of collection is written on the request form and specimen container      <\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Specimen collection:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Ensure\n     the bladder is empty by passing urine into the toilet so it does not\n     contaminate the faeces.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Collect a\n     fresh faeces specimen directly into a faeces container provided to you.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The scoop\n     attached to the lid of the faeces container can be used to transfer the\n     specimen<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The minimum amount required is approximately 1g (size\n     of a walnut), no more than a half full container. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Take the\nspecimen (and form) into the Collection Centre as soon as possible after\ncollection.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Note<\/strong>: If more than one sample is required repeat the above procedure the following day and deliver the specimen to Awanui Labs Collection Centre as soon as possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>For further information, please call 09 574 7399<\/strong><br><br><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"&nbsp;Important &#8211; Specimen labelling and delivery: Specimen collection: Note: If more than one sample is required repeat the above procedure the following day and deliver the specimen to Awanui Labs Collection Centre as soon as possible.
