{"id":1132,"date":"2019-04-02T04:37:33","date_gmt":"2019-04-02T04:37:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.awanuilabs.co.nz\/north\/auckland\/?page_id=1132"},"modified":"2026-03-17T16:54:57","modified_gmt":"2026-03-17T03:54:57","slug":"urine-collection-for-chlamydia-or-tb-testing","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.awanuilabs.co.nz\/north\/auckland\/for-patients\/preparing-for-my-test\/urine-collection-for-chlamydia-or-tb-testing\/","title":{"rendered":"Urine Collection for Chlamydia or TB Testing"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong><u>PATIENT INSTRUCTIONS<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Important &#8211; Specimen labeling and delivery: <\/strong><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Ensure full first and last names and date of birth (dd\/mm\/yy) are clearly written on the specimen tube<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Ensure date and time of collection is written on the request form and specimen container<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Take the specimen and request form into the Collection Centre as soon after collection as possible<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>URINE FOR CHLAMYDIA<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>NB to client: &nbsp;Ensure you do not pass urine for at least 1 hour prior to test<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol>\n<li>Pass the <strong>FIRST 10-30ml<\/strong> urine into the dish provided<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Transfer the urine into the container provided and secure lid firmly<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>TB URINE<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Three early morning urines are collected on <\/strong><strong>three consecutive days*<\/strong><strong> and each specimen must be delivered daily to the nearest Collection Centre as soon as possible following collection.<\/strong><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Before collecting each daily specimen: <\/strong><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol>\n<li>Collect first urine passed for the day into the dish provided or if you think it is not large enough, a clean ice cream container will be satisfactory. \u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Transfer the urine into the container provided. \u00a0Fill the container provided.
