To help make your visit more convenient and predictable, we have introduced optional online bookings<\/a> at all of our collection centres. Routine blood tests continue to be available as a walk-in service, just as before. If the available booking times do not suit you, or your preferred time is unavailable, you are still very welcome to visit as a walk-in during our normal opening hours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Frequently asked questions<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
Why can\u2019t I get a booking sooner than two weeks?<\/strong><\/summary>
\n

Bookings are released ahead of time and can fill up quickly. If you\u2019re not seeing any available times, it may be that appointments have already been taken or that bookings at your centre haven\u2019t opened just yet. We recommend checking back again soon as more slots will become available over the coming days.  You can also choose to book at another nearby collection centre if your preferred location or time is unavailable.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/details><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Why can\u2019t I see my local centre?<\/strong><\/summary>
\n

Some centres, such as Beachlands and Waiheke, are not currently included in the booking system. These are smaller sites where only one phlebotomist is available for most of the day, and introducing bookings at these locations would limit flexibility for walk-in patients. For now, these centres will continue to operate as walk-in only, so you\u2019re still welcome to attend without an appointment.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/details><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Why can\u2019t I book on a Monday or Tuesday?<\/strong><\/summary>
\n

Mondays and Tuesdays are usually our busiest days, which can mean longer waits \u2014 even with a booking. That\u2019s why appointments are currently available from Wednesday to Friday, when it\u2019s a bit quieter. Booking on these days offers a more relaxed experience and makes it more likely you\u2019ll be seen on time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adding bookings to our busiest days could increase wait times for everyone, especially walk-in patients. We\u2019re committed to fair and equitable access for all patients, so the booking system is designed to enhance the experience without disadvantaging those who can\u2019t book or need urgent testing.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/details><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Why are there only a few times showing for the centre I chose?<\/strong><\/summary>
\n

Appointment availability depends on staffing and other operational needs at each centre. In some cases, we may only offer bookings during a specific window to allow time for lunch breaks and to keep space for urgent walk-ins. If the available slots do not suit you, you are always welcome to come in as a walk-in during our usual opening hours.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/details><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Do I have to book for my blood test?<\/strong><\/summary>
\n

No \u2014 bookings are optional. All routine blood tests are still available as a walk-in service, just like before. The booking option is there for people who would like a set time or want to plan their visit more precisely.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/details><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Can I book over the phone?<\/strong><\/summary>
\n

Bookings for standard tests must be done online or patients can choose to simply walk-in for these. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you are requiring a specialised test such as a: GTT (glucose tolerance test), SPT (Skin allergy test, Mantoux test or DNA test, these can be booked both online and over the phone. Doing it online is quick, easy, and you\u2019ll receive an email with a QR code to scan when you arrive at the centre, making your check-in even smoother.  You can book online at booking.labapps.nz<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/details><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Do I need to have a form before booking?<\/strong><\/summary>
\n

You will either a need a paper referral form or confirmation from your referrer that they have sent an online referral form directly to the lab. If the form has been emailed to you from your referrer, you can forward this to us by sending it to: auk.request.forms@awanuilabs.co.nz<\/a> \u2013 please include your NHI number and the collection centre you will be attending in the subject line.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
