{"id":4025,"date":"2022-11-10T12:17:21","date_gmt":"2022-11-09T23:17:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.awanuilabs.co.nz\/north\/auckland\/?p=4025"},"modified":"2022-11-10T12:17:22","modified_gmt":"2022-11-09T23:17:22","slug":"change-to-d-dimer-phone-reporting","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.awanuilabs.co.nz\/north\/auckland\/2022\/11\/10\/change-to-d-dimer-phone-reporting\/","title":{"rendered":"Change to D-dimer phone reporting"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-text-color\" style=\"color:#ed7d31\"><em><strong>Labtests is changing the phoning procedure for positive D-dimers.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Previously all positive D-dimers have been phoned through on the assumption that the D-dimer is being performed to rule out a deep vein thrombosis (DVT) or pulmonary embolus (PE) where the patient is deemed at low risk of DVT( Wells score &lt;2) or\u00a0 moderate risk of PE based on the Wells score\/ PERC criteria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However since the COVID-19 pandemic we have noticed a significant number of low positive results which are likely related to COVID-19\/ Vaccination and simultaneously are experiencing increased difficulty phoning these results through to clinicians.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In order to improve the phoning of results we are requesting that clinicians let us know if a positive result will have an immediate clinical utility (i.e. needs to be phoned through if positive) and in these cases we are asking for a suitable phone number to be supplied.
