{"id":4680,"date":"2024-01-26T12:42:00","date_gmt":"2024-01-25T23:42:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.awanuilabs.co.nz\/north\/auckland\/?p=4680"},"modified":"2024-02-07T16:59:03","modified_gmt":"2024-02-07T03:59:03","slug":"upgrade-to-laboratory-information-system","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.awanuilabs.co.nz\/north\/auckland\/2024\/01\/26\/upgrade-to-laboratory-information-system\/","title":{"rendered":"Upgrade to Laboratory information system"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>We are upgrading our Laboratory Information System and here is how it will affect referrers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From 17 February 2024, Awanui Labs \u2013 Auckland (Formerly Labtests) will be going live with upgrades to its Laboratory Information System (LIS). This is part of a nationwide initiative that will refresh our existing LIS. Not only does this upgrade make for a more robust system, but it will standardise test names, codes, comments, and reference ranges across the country and where appropriate it will implement HISO standards such as NZPOCS and LOINC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>There will be five main changes<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Referrers are not required to take any actions as a result of the LIS upgrade; however, they can expect to notice five main changes when it comes to reporting:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>The cumulation of some results in Practice Management Systems (PMS) will reset with different test codes and\/or names. Cumulation will start again with the new test code and names. All previous results will still appear in your PMS as usual.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Hba1c and glucose will no longer grouped together and will be reported separately<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>There are some comment changes. This is the result of our clinical teams reviewing ALL current comments and selecting the most appropriate comments to bring into the new system.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In some instances, you will notice minor changes to values, decimal points, and reference ranges. Again, these changes come after a review by clinical staff and have been made to standardise resulting.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Results for most tests Awanui Labs \u2013 Auckland (Formerly Labtests) sends to a referral laboratory for testing (including LabPlus) will be reported by Awanui Labs \u2013 Auckland (Formerly Labtests)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Users of Medtech-32 and Evolution<\/strong> will be provided with Release Notes\/Installation Instructions for \u201cInbox Screening Mapping Update by your PMS provider. The update will re-map Inbox Screening Terms to the new LIS Test result codes.
