Awanui Labs has introduced a new Aeroallergen Sensitivity Blood IgE Test, available directly to the public through BODYiQ, Awanui’s self-request health testing service.

The test checks for allergy-related antibodies known as immunoglobulin E (IgE). These antibodies can indicate whether your immune system is sensitive to common airborne allergens, including house dust mites, cats, dogs, grass pollens, silver birch pollen, plantain pollen and moulds.

The test may be useful for people experiencing ongoing or seasonal sneezing, a blocked or runny nose, itchy or watery eyes, asthma symptoms, or worsening eczema. Results may help identify possible environmental triggers and support a more informed conversation with a healthcare provider and open up further treatment options including avoidance of allergens and immunotherapy.

A positive IgE result shows that your immune system is sensitive to an allergen, but it does not necessarily confirm that the allergen is causing your symptoms. Results should be considered alongside your symptoms and medical history.

This test is not designed to investigate conditions food intolerances, irritable bowel syndrome or hives.

How to access the test

You can order the test online through BODYiQ without a referral. After ordering, visit a participating Awanui Labs collection centre to provide a blood sample. No fasting or special preparation is required.

Results will be available through your secure BODYiQ account within seven days.
