Lab Update: Critical Biochemistry Analyser Issues

Due to significant analyser issues we are unable to process all of the biochemistry and serology requests on the same day. This affects sample from 05/12/2022 to the current time. We are working with our supplier to remedy the situation as quickly as possible. Urgent samples are being processed as a priority and we are doing our best to minimise the impact to patient care. Remaining routine tests will continue to be processed however this may result in tests not being processed the same day.

Tests affected by this issue include:

• Infectious tests pending (Hepatitis A, B, C, HIVs, SYs, Rubella, Toxoplasma antibodies (IgG and IgM), Cytomegalovirus (IgM and IgG) ,EBV).

• Hormones: progesterone, FSH, estradiol, LH, prolactin, B12 and folate, thyroid tests – TSH, FT4 and FT3, commercial – insulin, SHBG, DHEAs, FRT, cortisol, dexamethasone, IgE, CEA, AMH, BNP, PTH, PTY, HCG, PSA, FET, CCP

• In addition some renal, liver, CRPs, creatinine kinase and Vitamin assays are affected

Please note the samples are in the laboratory and registered and will still be suitable for processing when the analyser comes back online this morning. We will send a repeat notification if the issue persists and any ongoing issues are anticipated. We are prioritising urgent samples.

To help us manage our workflow until these issues are fully resolved we are asking referrers and patients not to call and check the sample is in the laboratory.
