For a defined range of tests, you can self-request if you are aged 16 years or over. This service is designed to give you more control over your health by providing access to clinically validated testing without a referral. For any medical advice about your results, please consult your healthcare provider.
How do I make a request?
You can choose and purchase tests securely online through BODYiQ, which is our recommended process for a more seamless experience. Alternately you can request a form at an Awanui Labs collection centre. Once payment is made, your samples can be collected at one of our 150+ centres nationwide and processed in our IANZ-accredited laboratories.
How will I get my results?
For orders processed through BODYiQ you will be notified by email when your results are available to view in the secure online portal of your BODYiQ account. Most results are available within a few working days.
For collection centre orders we will email your results to you if an email address is provided on the Self-Request Test request form. Results sent by email are password protected. You will receive your emailed results 3 working days after the completion of all testing.
We can mail your results to your nominated address if no email address is provided (allow 7 working days after the completion of testing).
Will my Healthcare Provider receive a copy of the results?
No, your results are private and will only be shared with you. Your results are not linked to your National Health Identifier (NHI) number.
However, if you need support in understanding your results, you can consult a registered GP through our recommended partner, The Doctors Online or choose to download and share your results with your GP.
How do I pay?
Payment is required at the time of request. Online BODYiQ purchases can be made securely by credit or debit card. At collection centres, EFTPOS and credit card (Visa or Mastercard) are accepted. Please note: cash is not accepted.
How much will my test cost?
Tests are individually priced and listed online here. Additional service fees (such as a blood collection fee) may apply.
What tests are available?
BODYiQ offers a wide range of self-request health tests, from general wellness checks to specific hormone and nutrient profiles. You can explore testing across areas such as:
- Wellness & prevention – e.g. full blood count, cholesterol, diabetes markers
- Hormone health – including male and female hormone profiles
- Nutrition & lifestyle – vitamins, minerals, and other key nutrients

Please note the following tests are not available through self-requested testing: genetic and paternity testing, cytology, and histology.
How will I know what the results mean?
BODYiQ results include clear commentary and reference ranges where relevant, but interpretation should always be done with your healthcare provider. They are trained to consider results alongside your symptoms and history. For added reassurance, BODYiQ offers an optional Results Protection service, where a New Zealand-registered GP can contact you if your results are abnormal.
Important
Medical test results should not be interpreted in isolation. Awanui Labs and BODYiQ do not provide diagnosis. We strongly recommend discussing your results with your healthcare provider to understand what they mean for your individual health. Once results are sent, ongoing security of your information is your responsibility.
