eOrders Update
Requestor selection – effective 12 October 2026
When completing a community eOrder, the requestor selection will be restricted to clinicians who are set up at the facility from which the request is being placed. The facility is provided to eOrder by your practice management system (PMS). When you select the magnifying glass to search for a requestor, the system will only display clinicians associated with that facility. The search will automatically display up to 50 results.
This change has been introduced because we have been receiving requests where the selected ordering clinician is not set up at the facility the request is being placed from. This can result in laboratory results being sent to the incorrect facility. If you cannot find the clinician you are looking for, it may be because they have not yet been set up at that facility.
Instructions for searching for ordering clinicians are available here: 2026 – Adding Requesters and Copy-To Clinicians
Please note: This change applies to community eOrder forms only.
General reminders:
New Staff Set-Up
- New staff must be set up with eOrder access at their facility — this does not happen automatically.
- If the staff member is responsible for receiving laboratory results, they will also need a laboratory code set up in addition to their eOrder access.
- Set-up can be requested using the appropriate new requestor webform here.
Amending or Requesting Additional Testing
- If you have already submitted an eOrder and need to amend the request or add additional testing, you can do this directly through the eOrder system.
- There is no need to call or email the laboratory. Once the eOrder is amended, the laboratory will be notified automatically.
- Instructions are available here: Add or Amend an eOrder – Instructions
Serial Requests
- A reminder that serial/repeat testing must be requested using the serial request tick box on the eOrder form.
- You can provide as much detail as required, including the frequency and duration of the requested testing.
Please do not use the Clinical Details free-text box to request repeat testing, as this information will not be seen as a serial request.
Home Visit Requests
Home visits must also be requested using the Home Visit tick box on the eOrder form, along with supporting clinical information that meets the eligibility criteria.
Support
There are a number of helpful resources available on the eOrder website: eOrder Support Resources
Thank you for your assistance in ensuring eOrders are completed correctly and that results are directed to the appropriate clinician and facility.
